The Macal River Camp

Chaa Creek’s choice for those visitors wishing to get that much closer to nature and wish to travel Belize on a budget.

The Macal River Camp - An Authentic Belize Jungle Experience

Wildly Civilized

The timeless jungles of Belize have changed little since the days when the ancient Maya civilisation flourished at Chaa Creek.

Alive during the day with colourful birds, the mesmerising flash of giant Blue Morpho butterflies and glimpses of exotic wildlife, the rainforest symphony continues through the night with howler monkeys, the plaintive call of the elusive jaguar and the shimmering flicker of fireflies.

To spend time in this authentic jungle environment is a rare opportunity to experience nature at her unspoiled, most vibrant best.

And with simple yet comfortable lodgings, delicious family style meals under the airy thatched roof of a traditional palapa, your jungle adventure is as relaxing as it is exciting.

A perfect place to stay if you want a jungle experience. It was a great combination of a comfortable rustic cabin with hosts that made sure our stay was pleasant and that we were able to participate in all of the activities the Chaa Creek lodge has to offer.

As a family with teenage daughters we thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Chaa Creek Camp site. We were very well looked after even with our dietary requirements. Glamping Belizean style! The food was simple yet delicious and plentiful. A short walk along the medicine trail to the main resort with a beautiful pool.

Loved the River Camp at this beautiful resort. It was nice to stay away from the fancy lodge, yet still be able to visit, use the pool & restaurant. Wonderful guides for bird watching & nature tours. The camp was simple yet comfortable & good variety of guests to visit with at breakfast & dinner.

The Macal River Camp is situated in the heart of the Belizean rainforest, the cradle of Mayan civilization. A protected nature reserve of 400 acres which has welcomed the Fleming family’s guests for generations.
